On July 19, 1953, Richland Hills Christian Church (RHCC) was planted with a worship service held at the Civic Center of Kate Baker Park in Richland Hills, TX with 70 people in attendance. From its inception, RHCC identified as a part of the International Convention of Christian Churches (ICCC).
On August 30, 1953, the lot on which the church now meets was purchased, though it would be more than a year before the first of the three planned stages of building construction was complete.
On September 19, 1954, Sunday services were moved from the Civic Center of Kate Baker Park to the newly completed Glenview Elementary School (now known as Jack C. Binion Elementary), across the street from the purchased lot.
On November 7, 1954, the first service in the newly constructed building was held, with 170 people in attendance.
On June 1, 1955, the church called Hugh Baker to serve as its first full-time, non-interim pastor. Dr. Baker served the church for more than 34 years, retiring in September of 1989.
On August 20, 1967, the first service in the current sanctuary was held, with 303 people in attendance.
On September 28, 1968, RHCC and the majority of the remaining ICCC churches restructured and renamed their association to be “The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)” (a.k.a. “the DOC”).
On October 1, 2023, RHCC officially disaffiliated from the DOC denomination.
